The tranquil, Blue Ridge Mountain community of Warne, North Carolina with it's bountiful pastures and creekside chalets and cabins, sits in an unincorporated area within the Brasstown Township of Clay County. The motto here is 'Your welcome is never 'Warne' out!' With Clay County once being the hub of the Native American Cherokee Indians, Warne welcomed a boom in population during the 1930's with the opening of a gold mine. Today, Warne is home to a post office, a mercantile, gas station and general store, a tubing company as well as a metal fabrication plant that has operated since 1957. Fun fact: Warne ] Warne is closer in proximity to the capitals of five other states (Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Kentucky) than to Raleigh, the state capital of North Carolina.
